Julian, a Senior Penetration Tester at Software Secured, spent almost a year reverse engineering a high-end dash cam. This talk walks through that journey: the vulnerabilities he found along the way, and the surprising discovery that the research affects an unknown number of other popular dash cams.

You will leave with a deeper understanding of hardware hacking, reverse engineering, and the risks posed by insecure consumer-grade devices.

Julian hunts for vulnerabilities across a range of clients and products at Software Secured. Off hours he does vulnerability research against IoT devices and open-source software, amassing more than 50 CVEs over the past several years. Past work includes 20+ vulnerabilities in the Furbo pet camera, and finding more than 130,000 LLM chats readable on Archive.org.
